The study of English is central to the learning and development of all our children. It helps create confident communicators, imaginative thinkers and informed citizens. It is through the study of English that individuals learn to analyse, understand, communicate with and build relationships with others and with the world around them. The study of English helps young people develop the knowledge and skills needed for education, training and the workplace. It helps them become ethical, thoughtful, informed and active members of society.
Our whole school approaches to the teaching of English include:
Sounds-Write in from PP to Year 2 and as required in the older year levels
Words Their Way from Years 3 to 6
Talk for Writing from K to Year 6
Our students will engage daily in Reading, Viewing, Writing and Speaking and Listening opportunities. Explicit teaching, clear learning intentions and success criteria, and opportunities for practice are aimed at giving our students the best opportunities to build brighter futures.
