Learning Support Team
Our Learning Support Team provide support for cognitive, emotional, social and behavioural needs that impact on student learning and well-being. The team includes:
- School Psychologist
- Principal
- Deputy Principals
- SAER coordinator
A School Psychologist provides support to the school, catering for the cognitive, emotional, social and behavioural needs that impact on student learning and well-being.
Our school psychologist is a valued member of our Learning Support Team. Her role involves providing:
- support with school system services.
- indirect service through professional development of staff, collaborative case conferencing and consultation. Our school psychologist works with teachers in order to support students.
- direct service through the Learning Support Team
The school psychologist provides support in the following areas:
Learning
- Supporting the school in making the appropriate curriculum and classroom adjustments for students in order to enhance their learning outcomes.
- Conducting assessments (when appropriate) of students experiencing learning difficulties and/or disabilities at school. Including those waitlisted.
- Assisting the school by providing support for students with disabilities and / or complex behaviours.
Mental Health and Well Being
- Assisting the school, parents and children to maximise the development of positive mental health and well-being through referral and external support pathways.
- Providing support for students experiencing mental health and well-being difficulties.
Behaviour
Working with students, parents and the school to identify and support target behaviours at the individual, group and systemic level.
Plase note: School psychologists are not primary providers of clinical mental health services for children and young people. The School Psychology Service primarily provides support at a school level to support students and therefore, referrals cannot be made by parents to work with their child without consultation with the Principal.
Additional Student Services
Chaplain
Our Chaplain, Miss Sam, works two days a week. She works with small groups of students with programs such as Seasons for Growth, Be You and Be Tough programs. Miss Sam also works with individual students. All referrals to the Chaplain are triaged through the Learning Support Team. Parents are able to refer their child for chaplaincy support by completing the chaplain referral form at the Administration Office.
Community Health Nurse
The Community Health (school) Nurse supports social, emotional and physical health needs for students in education support settings and with disability. Part of this role includes conducting child development screening for Kindy children.
